Environmental Management

Walker Quarries environmental management is to carry out the mining activities at the Wallerawang  Quarry in a manner that complies with relevant environmental legislation and is environmentally responsible.  The company is committed to ongoing improvements in its environmental management and aims to undertake reviews of environmental management to ensure that it remains relevant and appropriate for the existing and future operations – see the results of the Independent Environmental Audits (IEA) on the website.

The Company has an Environmental Pollution Incident Response Management Plan (PIRMP) which covers the key actions to minimise occurrence of a pollution incident and manage a pollution incident if one occurs (during and after a pollution incident). The PIRMP does not have procedures for the treatment of injured persons or the remediation of the environment following a pollution incident. The PIRMP has been prepared for managing the impact to human health (employees and nearby neighbours) and the environment (on-site and off-site).

The Company holds Community Consultative Committee meetings (with an independent Chair) at which all the monitoring results are presented and discussed.
